Security and data

Your data is safe and your till stays up

Digigarson's servers are in a data centre in Germany. Data is backed up every hour, and a copy of the backups is kept in separate cloud storage. The till app only accepts digitally signed updates, and every sensitive staff action requires permission and is logged.

  • Data centre in Europe

Our servers run in a data centre in Germany.

  • Hourly backups and an off-site copy

The database is backed up every hour. A copy of the backups is kept in cloud storage separate from the server, so even if something happens to the server, the data is safe elsewhere.

  • Signed automatic updates

The till app installs updates by itself. Every update is digitally signed, and code whose signature cannot be verified is not run.

  • A startup that never hangs on a blank screen

If the internet is briefly unavailable when the till starts, the app shows "Waiting for connection" and retries by itself.

  • Permissions and audit log

A separate permission is defined for every screen and sensitive action. Voids, discounts and deletions are logged together with who did them and when.

  • Security in offline mode

For offline mode, the server grants the till a signed, time-limited permit; the till must have connected to the internet at least once in the last 48 hours. Only one main till per branch works offline.
